Honnavar

Stepwell’s home in India is Silvepura, a semi-rural village 25km Honnavar is a quaint town located in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It is located where the Sharavathi River meets the Arabian Sea and has a blend of coastal and inland landscapes. Its waters are vital for irrigation, and several dams constructed along its course provide hydroelectricity. It's also famous for Jog Falls, one of the highest plunge waterfalls in India.

The Kadamba dynasty ruled Honnavar during the early medieval period and later came under the rule of the Chalukyas, Hoysalas, and Vijayanagara Empire.

Like many places in Karnataka, Honnavar is linguistically diverse. Kannada is the primary language, but you can also hear Konkani, Marathi, and Tulu spoken.
